Water and Smoking

Smoking is the cause for a countless series of problems, both for you and for those around you. 

Even so, water intake may again be of some benefit:

  • Every time you pass by the water cooler, as you come back to your desk, stop and take a glass of water with you. The taste of water repels your desire to smoke and, consequently, helps you cut back on smoking.
  • Replace caffeine and alcoholic drinks with water, since the former not only function as diuretics, leading to a loss of water, but also, intensify your desire to smoke by being habits directly associated with smoking.
  • Every time you feel the desire to smoke, get up immediately and visit the water cooler. Drink as much water as you need to hold your attention for the next 5 minutes. If you succeed at it, then, as a rule, the “danger” of succumbing to the temptation has gone. This is a tactic that will really help you to cut back on smoking.
  • Always have a full glass of water or a hot beverage in your office. Thus, whenever you need to nibble on something, you can find something quick and healthy. It will be kind of hard to cut back on smoking, if you don’t have some substitute for it!
