For the environment
For Rainbow Waters®, water is the reason for its existence. Thus, its respect for nature and water is a basic principle around on which it focuses its philosophy and all its activities. In order to reduce its carbon footprint in the atmosphere, which directly affects the land water storage, it has optimised its distribution system and has adopted a very successful reusable water bottle management system and bottle recycling program.
Through its reusable water bottle management system, Rainbow Waters® reduces its water footprint by 53,000 m3/year (Amount of water that is sufficient to maintain 350 four-membered families for one year). By reusing bottles, it saves an enormous amount of plastic which if produced would burden both the environment and water. One need only consider the following:
- the production of a plastic water bottle requires at least twice the amount of water than that contained in the bottle
- each 20 kg CO2 emitted into the atmosphere, requires the planting of 1 tree for its absorption
If we were using single-use 10-litre plastic bottles instead of 18.9lt return bottles, until now we would have burdened our country with:
Which are equivalent to:
absorb the C02
Reusable Water Bottles
We focus on the careful management of the bottled water packaging in order to provide the highest quality water bottles, which are both safe for one’s health and environmentally friendly.
We use reusable water bottles. So, in collaboration with our customers, we contribute towards reducing waste and saving energy and natural resources.
The 18.9 litre returnable bottles are cleaned, sterilised and refilled. They are recycled at the end of their life cycle. The recycled plastic is used in the creation of toys, tools, and other products.
Distribution System Optimisation
We reduce CO2 emissions by creating more efficient distributions. We have managed to reduce the required number of delivery vehicles by 18% and fuel consumption by 22%.
Except for the water bottles, we recycle watercoolers, electrical appliances, computers, plastic cups, metal, electrical / electronic parts, batteries, ink cartridges, bulbs and of course stationery (office paper, cardboard, packing materials, etc).
• All the electrical appliances that we use are of at least class A energy efficiency
• We minimised the use of paper (printing) in the office with the addition of intranet, e-mail and e-fax
• In 2008, we adopted a special water reduction recycling system for washing the delivery vehicles
