FAQS

Why shuld I change the water filter every 6 months?

The filters contain a specific amount of carbon. The carbon, by design, is activated with the first drop of water that passes through the interior of the filter, and after 6 months its filtration capacity deteriorates.

It should be noted that the water filter should be changed more frequently (<6 months) where the mains water supply in the area is of compromised quality.

Why doesn’t the filter have UV radiation?

When water is deemed suitable - potable by the Municipal Corporation, it is chlorinated and microbiologically safe. We are then sure that is does not have bacteria and radiation is therefore unnecessary.

Why should I choose Rainbow Waters® for my water filters?

Because Rainbow Waters®:

  • is the only company in Greece offering the leading TMHome water filters
  • specialises in water-related products and services, ensuring high standards of safety and hygiene for its customers.
  • recommends the most suitable product for the needs of your site
  • continues to care for you throughout the course of the collaboration (continuous technical support, prompt service, after sales service)
  • provides the filter head system free of charge for the duration of the collaboration
  • promptly reminds you of the filter replacement appointment and provides a free-of-charge technical visit every 6 months for its replacement

Why should I install a filter and which filter is the right choice for me?

  • The city mains water supply has two major problems: Chlorine & suspended sediments in pipes, which can have a serious impact on our health.

  • With the guidance of a reliable supplier who understands the issues affecting our water, we can make the correct choice of filter or water treatment system.

How often is the water cooler’s sanitization required?

It is a National and European requirement for bottled water coolers to undergo sanitization at regular intervals. According to the EFET regulations (see. Guide to Good Hygiene Practice for bottled water for use in water coolers), the watercooler distributor must sanitize and disinfect the watercooler, since the absence of chlorine in bottled water makes it susceptible. Moreover, according to the European Bottled Watercooler Association (www.ebwa.org), the only body that legislates this industry, all bottled watercoolers must undergo sanitization every 4 months.

What will I pay if I need technical support?

During our collaboration, we provide free technical support. In case of a potential breakdown, a qualified technical officer from our company’s technical department responds immediately and gives specific, clear and easy-to-understand explanations. You can contact the help desk by calling the number +30 210 8000 488 during working days and hours (Monday to Friday 9 am to 4 pm). If a breakdown cannot be repaired, the water cooler is immediately replaced.

What exactly does the watercooler’s sanitization entail?

Rainbow Waters® specialised partners visit the location of the water cooler every 4 months, and with the highest standards of hygiene (work uniforms, sterile medical gloves, health booklet) implement the sanitization. The process includes the following steps:

  1. Remove the water bottle
  2. Remove the old Sanitization kit, i.e. all of the cooler’s parts that come in contact with water (tap, water storage tank, pipes)
  3. Place a new Sanitization kit with zero microbial load
  4. Replace the water bottle

What bottled water is used in the Rainbow Waters® bottled watercoolers?

The Rainbow Waters® water coolers are the only ones with Dioni water. The award-winning DIONI water quality and taste originates in a "Protected Drinking Water Area for human consumption" (according to the National Water Committee). The Dioni spring is located in an unspoilt and green area in Dodoni, Ioannina at an altitude of 750m and subjected to 420 quality controls every 8 hours.

Having certified all the water and water cooler management processes from the spring to the sanitization of the watercoolers, Rainbow Waters® is able to guarantee that Dioni water preserves its quality and composition from the spring to your glass.

How are Ebac bottled water coolers disinfected?

There are number of alternative watercooler sanitization/disinfection methods e.g. chemical cleaning, ozonation, UV light, steam. However, none of these provide 100% disinfection, because there will always be spots which favor rapid bacterial growth if all the cooler parts that come into contact with water are not replaced. Moreover, in the case of watercoolers that use a UV lamp for their antibacterial protection, this bulb often burns out resulting in the cooler not having any antibacterial protection.

In the case of the Ebac bottled water coolers, all part the come in contact with the water are fully replaced (water tank, tubes, taps) with new ones that are manufactured in a sterile environment. Every 4 months, our technicians replace all the internal parts using disposable gloves. This is the only way we can be certain that the cooler has been disinfected 100% every time.

What will I pay if I need technical support?

For the duration of our collaboration, we provided free technical support. In case of a potential fault, a qualified technical officer from the technical department of Rainbow Waters® responds immediately and gives specific, clear and easy-to-understand explanations. You can contact the help desk by calling the number 210 8000 488 during working days and hours (Monday to Friday 9 am to 4 pm). If a fault cannot be repaired, the water cooler is immediately replaced.

How do I benefit if the water is not stored already filtered?

With ordinary point-of-use water coolers, water is filtered once it enters the cooler. In this way, non-chlorinated water remains in the cooler’s water storage tank making it susceptible to bacterial contamination.

In the case of Ebac point-of-use water coolers, the water that enters the cooler is not filtered. Thus, the chlorine it contains is maintained and it is not susceptible to bacterial contamination. Once we press the dispenser lever to fill the glass, the water passes through the filter which removes the chlorine just as the water pours into the glass.

How are Ebac point-of-use watercoolers disinfected?

There are a number of alternative watercooler disinfection methods e.g. chemical cleaning, ozonation, UV light, steam. However, none of these provide 100% disinfection, because there will always be spots which favor rapid bacterial growth if all the watercooler parts that come into contact with water are not replaced. Moreover, in the case of water coolers that use a UV lamp for their antibacterial protection, many times this particular bulb burns out resulting in the cooler not having any antibacterial protection.

In the Ebac point-of-use water coolers, all the parts of the cooler are replaced (water container, tubes, taps) with new ones that are manufactured in a sterile environment. Every 6 months, our technicians replace all the internal parts using disposable gloves.  This is the only way we can be sure that the cooler has been disinfected 100% every time!

Which filters are used in point-of-use water coolers?

The Ebac point-of-use water coolers have top quality, 3M-technology water filters, tested according to NSF standards: NSF/ANSI 42, for chlorine taste and odour removal and NSF/ANSI 53, for removal of cysts. They are silver-containing activated carbon filters. The filters are impregnated with silver to inhibit the growth of the biofilm and bacteria. They meet quality assurance criteria, have a capacity of 5,000 litres and are replaced with new ones every 6 months.

The point-of-use water cooler has a water storage container?

The Ebac point-of-use water cooler features the "Direct Dispense" system. With this system, the tap water is filtered right before you drink it and it is not stored already filtered.

Does Rainbow Waters® have its own spring?

From its onset, Rainbow Waters® approached the provision of bottled water via water coolers in a holistic manner and trained the consumer to sanitise/disinfect the water cooler every four months. It was the first to receive quality certifications for the distribution of bottled water coolers, water cooler sanitization and for the storage, transport and distribution of bottled water.

Drawing from its experience in providing guaranteed water quality through the water cooler and after many years of research at dozens of springs throughout Greece, it ended up acquiring its own spring.

The spring is located at Mt. Tomaros, the mountainous mass of Epirus, at an altitude of 750 metres, in area “Drinking Water Protected Area” (according to the National Water Commission) and is considered among the best in Europe in terms of quality and quantity of water.

Dioni water, which arrives at our home exclusively through the Rainbow Waters® bottled water coolers and bottled water manual pumps, gushes from this spring.

How do Rainbow Waters® water coolers differ from the rest?

We have chosen to supply you with Ebac water coolers, which are manufactured in England (and not in third countries); they are designed based on hygiene and meet all EU regulations.

The main reason for choosing the Ebac water coolers, is that anything that comes into contact with water (closed ice water storage tank, pipes, taps, bacteria-retaining air filter, etc.) is disposable. According to the regulations of the European Union and the Hellenic Food Authority (see. Guidelines for Good Hygienic Practices for bottled water for use in water coolers), the distributor must sanitise and disinfect the water cooler, since the absence of chlorine in bottled water makes it susceptible. Every 4 months, during sanitization/disinfection, we replace all these internal parts with new sanitised disposable parts that are manufactured by Ebac in a sterile environment.

Thus, at Rainbow Waters® we are confident that we disinfect your coolers 100% every 4 months and protect the quality of water offered to you by the water cooler.

In all other water coolers, this sanitization method is not possible and is either done by mechanical means (brushes, sponges) or with chemicals, and the results are often uncertain.

The watercooler’s quarterly sanitization/disinfection is carried out by the fully trained staff of Rainbow Waters®  (and not by external partners). Our staff constantly participates in Good Watercooler Hygiene seminars, and they are required to have Health Booklets.

Rainbow Waters® is certified according to ISO 9001 and ISO 22000 for the distribution, sale and sanitization of watercoolers.

How is the quality of the storage and distribution of bottled water and watercoolers ensured?

Each company that distributes bottled water for water coolers must hold a legal Operating License for the storage and distribution of bottled water, as well as the sanitization and distribution of water coolers. The bottling plant’s Operating License does not suffice. The same applies to all quality certificates.

At Rainbow Waters®, the transport, storage and distribution of bottled water from the bottling plant to the local storage areas and ultimately to your site, is in compliance with all international and Greek legislative requirements and Hellenic Food Authority (EFET) directives. The Dioni water bottles are always transported in closed trucks-vehicles (approved for water transfer) and are always stored in approved, closed health-regulated warehouses. Distributors that deliver the water to you belong to the permanent staff of Rainbow Waters®, they are constantly trained and they all have a health booklet.

Relevant standards apply for the sanitization, storage and transportation of watercoolers. For example, coolers are serviced and stored in specially designated areas. We monitor each cooler via its serial number, to ensure its smooth operation and to ensure that it is always sanitized so you always enjoy healthy water. In addition, our software allows us to estimate your bottled water needs, and with a fleet of over 85 vehicles we can promptly supply you.

We analysed all the possible points and risks during transportation, storage and distribution of the bottled water (HACCP study) and the watercoolers, and we can offer certified assurance of the quality during every process.
